Kiarash Bassiri, OD – Raleigh Optometrist
Dr. Kiarash Bassiri has proudly called Raleigh, North Carolina his home for nearly 24 years. He attended local schools since the 2nd grade including AB Combs elementary, Ligon GT middle, and Athens Drive High school. After graduating from high school, Dr. Bassiri attended North Carolina State University were he majored in Microbiology.
It was during his time at NC State that Dr. Bassiri developed an interest in a career in healthcare. He researched different fields and interned with several local optometrist where he developed a passion for the field of Optometry. He was drawn by the appreciation that people have for their most cherished sense: sight. He also enjoyed the ability to obtain immediate results, such as the case when correcting a patients vision with glasses or contact lenes.
Dr. Bassiri achieved his goals immediately after completing his undergraduate degree and enrolled at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. The program allowed him to attain a wide variety of comprehensive and challenging experiences including: multi-faceted experience at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, externships at the Queens VA hospital, and Brooklyn VA hospital where he primarily received experience in diagnosis and management of ocular disease including extensive experience in glaucoma management. Additionally he received hands-on training in primary care optometry and contact lens fitting at Triangle Eye Institute in Raleigh, North Carolina and across the country at Village Eyes Optometry in Los Angeles, California. Upon completing his degree in optometry, Dr. Bassiri wasted no time returning home to North Carolina where he quickly opened his current practice.
Dr. Bassiri is married to Hoda Imeni and the couple is expecting their first child in June. Dr. Hoda Imeni is a licensed dentist and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Bassiri and his wife both enjoy giving back to the community. Dr. Bassiri volunteers with Preventing Blindness NC, Vision USA, and Lions Club;organizations that help low-income individuals and families receive free eye exams. Dr. Bassiris wife enjoys volunteering her time with North Carolinas Missions of Mercy program;a portable dental clinic that travels to different locations across North Carolina to provide free dental care.
